Chatbot notice

Tell visitors they are chatting with AI: a footer bar, a badge next to the chat widget, or a shortcode. Optional EU-only mode.

If you have a chatbot or AI assistant, turn on Show a chatbot notice in Labels & notices. The default text is: “You are chatting with an AI assistant, not a person.” You can change it.

Where it shows

  • Bar in the footer: a slim bar at the bottom of every page.
  • Badge next to the chat widget: a small tag beside the chat bubble. AuthorLabel finds common widgets (Tidio, Tawk.to, Crisp, Intercom, HubSpot, AI Engine and others) and fills in the CSS selector for you. For another widget, enter its selector, for example #tidio-chat.
  • Only where I place the shortcode: put [authorlabel_chatbot_notice] into any page, or use the block.

EU visitors only

You can show the notice only to visitors from the EU. AuthorLabel reads the country header that your CDN adds (Cloudflare, CloudFront and similar). It makes no outside lookup. With no header, everyone sees the notice.

The duty in Article 50(1) sits mainly with the chatbot’s maker. A clear notice on your side is still a kind, cheap step, so the setup check marks it as “your call”. See the chatbots guide.
