The law
Will AuthorLabel make my site compliant?
No plugin can promise that, and we won’t. AuthorLabel shows which Article 50 duties apply to your site and gives you the labels and records to act on them. It is a tool, not legal advice.
My site isn’t in the EU. Does this matter to me?
It can, if people in the EU visit your site. The first guide explains when.
Do I have to label every AI-assisted post?
No. Text that a person reviewed and takes responsibility for doesn’t need a public label under the Commission’s guidelines. A spell-check doesn’t count as review. More in the guide to AI-written posts.
Does every AI image need a label?
Only realistic ones that could fool people, so-called deepfakes. A cartoon or an obvious fantasy picture usually doesn’t. See the images guide.
The plugin
Will it work with my theme and page builder?
It works with the block editor, the Classic Editor, Elementor and WooCommerce, on WordPress 6.4 or newer with PHP 8.0 or newer.
Can it tell by itself whether a text was written by AI?
No, on purpose. Tools that guess this are unreliable. For images it reads the marker the AI tool left in the file; for text, you choose.
What happens if I uninstall it?
You can remove its settings. The labels on your content stay, because they are part of your content.
Does it send anything off my site?
The free plugin sends nothing, ever. Pro checks its license key. On 25- and 100-site plans it can also send a daily readiness summary (never your content), and you can turn that off.
