Label posts and pages

How to mark a WordPress post or page as AI-generated, AI-assisted, reviewed by an editor or not AI, and what your readers will see on the page.

Every post and page gets an AI transparency panel. In the block editor it’s in the sidebar; in the classic editor it’s a box on the right.

The four labels

LabelWhen to use itWhat readers see
AI-generatedAI wrote it and nobody really changed it.A short notice above the text.
AI-assistedAI did part of the work, a person did the rest.A short notice above the text.
AI, reviewed by a human editorAI helped, and a named editor checked it and stands behind it.No public notice. The review is kept in the record.
Not AIMade by people.Nothing.

You can also note the AI tool you used, which parts AI made (for example “summary, product description”) and the responsible editor.

What changes on the page

AuthorLabel never edits your post content. It adds the notice when the page is shown, plus a Schema.org note, a meta tag and a data-ai-generated attribute for search engines and other software.

The default notice says: “This text was written with help from AI.” You can change the wording in Labels & notices, or with the authorlabel_label_text filter.

A spell-check or a quick glance doesn’t count as editorial review. Choose “reviewed” only when a person really read the text and takes responsibility for it.
