Install AuthorLabel and run the first check

Install the free AuthorLabel plugin from WordPress.org, answer the six-question setup check and label your first post. Takes about ten minutes.

You need WordPress 6.4 or newer and PHP 8.0 or newer. The free plugin works on its own; you don’t need an account.

  1. Install the plugin. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New, search for “AuthorLabel”, click Install Now, then Activate.
  2. Answer six questions. The setup check opens by itself. The card “Your Article 50 duties” changes with every answer. Click Save answers.
  3. Turn on what applies. Open the Labels & notices tab. Turn on the chatbot notice if you have a chatbot, and create the “How we use AI” page.
  4. Label your first post. Open any post. In the AI transparency panel on the right, choose who made it. Update the post and open it on your site.

Tip. Upload an image made with Firefly, Midjourney or Stable Diffusion. AuthorLabel reads the marker in the file and suggests the label for you.

Where to find it later

AuthorLabel has its own item in the WordPress menu, with a tag icon. It has three tabs: Setup check, Labels & notices and Activity log. The dashboard also gets a small Readiness widget.
